The next 5 pictures were taken in the woods on March 28th, 1997. I am pretty sure of the first three plants...

Harbinger of Spring
Erigenia bulbosa
Dutchman's Breeches
Dicentra cucullaria
False Rue Anemone
Isopyrum biternatum

For this plant, I have guessed Spring Beauty, even though the leaves don't exactly match any of my guide.

I took these pictures on May 4th, 1997. The Cloud 9 Dogwood bloomed about 5 days earlier than the Pink Dogwood. The bracts stayed showy until May 20th.

May 18th, 1997 Here are some pictures of Appendaged Waterleafs and Phacelia. Both plants are in the Waterleaf family. Every other year the Appendaged Waterleaf (biennial) brightens up the woods for about 4 weeks starting in May. The Phacelia moved into the overgrown area in the NE corner of the backyard. We also have both volunteering in our woodland garden behind the house.

Here are some additional pictures taken on the 18th. The Rusty Blackhaw Viburnum was in full bloom. The Ragwort and Fleebane are welcome visitors (native) that we never planted. Both brighten up the field area before our other wildflowers begin to bloom.
