September 20 The last of the wildflowers are blooming.

July 25 The orange Touch-Me-Not has really started blooming and some colorful butterflies are wandering in the wildflowers. The Monkeyflower popped up next to the deck steps in back.

Aug 16 First a Ruby Throated Hummingbird without the ruby throat. A young one perhaps? Next is Butterflyweed grown from Burpee seeds, and finally some Monarch caterpillars eating on a Swamp Milkweed Asclepias incarnata grown from local seeds, still in a container. I hope they have enough plant to eat!

June 30, 1997 Now the wildflowers are really starting to take off. A hummingbird has been visiting the Monarda every evening about 15 minutes before sunset.

June 16, 1997 Some more wildflower pictures. We planted the Nodding Pink Onion seeds in fall 1995 and this is the first to bloom.

June 11, 1997 Here are 2 grasses and the first Purple Coneflower bloom of the year. The Dropseed was purchased as plants last year. The Bluestem I grew from seed and transplanted last fall. All the transplants lived and seem to be doing well.

June 15 These pictures were taken over the last couple of days. I planted the Eastern Wahoo in the back last year, the Blue-eyed Grass planted itself under the River Birch in front, and the Shumard Oak I planted in back this spring. The picture of the Shumard does not capture how bright red the new shoots are.
